Alec Westover is a graduate student at the University of Utah, currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah in 2019. Alec has extensive research experience, having worked as a research assistant in the Child Adaptation and Neurodevelopment Lab for several years. Most recently, he completed his practicum at the Utah Community Mental Health Clinic, where he provided counseling services to diverse populations in the greater Salt Lake City area, both in-person and via telehealth. Alec adopts a person-centered and humanistic approach to counseling, with a strong belief in the inherent ability of individuals to overcome challenges and lead purposeful, meaningful lives. He is dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive environment in which clients feel empowered to pursue lasting change.
Outside of his professional pursuits, Alec enjoys yoga, reading, hiking, and spending quality time with friends and family. He is also an active practitioner of transcendental meditation and participates in community mindfulness practices with the Salt Lake Buddhist Fellowship.
