JANA RICHARDSON, LCSW
MIDVALE LOCATION |  NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
Jana Richardson Midvale Therapist

My purpose as a clinician is to meet you with warmth, authenticity, and non-judgment, and to be present with whatever you bring into the room. Every person and every session is different. I support clients in processing, problem-solving, skill-building, feeling, or simply taking space to breathe. I believe therapy is grounded in autonomy, trust, and a shared commitment to your well-being. Choosing therapy is an act of courage, and I hold deep respect for that choice. Healing is rarely linear, and it’s a privilege to witness and support each client’s evolving growth.

Jana earned her MSW, along with two bachelor’s degrees and a certificate in criminology, from the University of Utah. She has extensive experience working with survivors of complex, chronic, and acute trauma, including family and intimate partner violence. Her work also includes supporting individuals impacted by systemic trauma such as immigration-related and political violence, involvement with the legal system, gender-based and racial violence, severe mental health concerns, and homelessness.

Jana recently returned from a year abroad training school counselors and developing programming across Namibia, South Africa, and Tanzania as part of an international non-profit focused on mental and sexual health education.

Jana approaches therapy with curiosity, compassion, and a nonjudgmental lens, seeking to understand each client’s needs within the context of their lived experiences and identities. She views the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative and meaningful alliance, and considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients in their healing process.

Outside of her work at Life Stone and the University of Utah Hospital, Jana enjoys hiking, yoga, traveling to other countries, jumping into lakes, and writing fiction and poetry.
