Emily Ladd is a second-year Master of Social Work Student at the University of Utah. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Emily has worked as an intern therapist with children and teens dealing with anxiety, depression, anger management issues, trauma, and grief. Before pursuing her master’s degree, Emily was a wilderness therapy guide where she led teens and young adults struggling with their mental health on weeklong outdoor adventures. Emily has experience working with adults in crisis as a psychiatric technician at Huntsman Mental Health Institute. Emily is in the process of becoming certified in EMDR and has received her Gottman Couples Therapy Level 1 certification.
Emily takes a holistic approach to therapy. She believes that integrating all parts of oneself is an essential part of the healing process. She frequently incorporates mindfulness, somatic techniques, art, nature, and imagination into her work with clients.
In her free time, Emily can be found in the mountains snowboarding or in the desert climbing. Emily is passionate about unlocking the wisdom of the body through yoga and exploratory dance.
