Kailtlin Thomas American Fork Therapist
"Sometimes all you really need is to know that someone is in your corner. I know what it’s like to feel alone and also understand the beauty of discovering that you’re not. I work to embody a safe space where you can think and feel without shame, and a space that reminds you that you’re capable and you’re not alone. Difficult experiences and unpleasant emotions can get incredibly heavy, but it’s okay to ask for some help in putting them down. You’re never too far gone, there’s always a way, and my passion is working together to help you rediscover that you’re enough.”
Jess is an experienced therapist that works with teen and adults. She joined the Life Stone team as a second-year Masters of Social Work intern and holds a Bachelors of Social Work degree from the University of Utah. She has worked for years as a Licensed Counselor in outpatient treatment and as a mentor for at-risk youth. She also has extensive experience with teens and adults with disabilities.

Her multi-faceted work history has provided her with a broad range of understanding and she ensures that her focus is on the unique needs of each individual. She works with her clients to understand and acknowledge their feelings and experiences in order to build the skills to process and move through them. She is passionate about providing support to those struggling with depression & anxiety, self-esteem issues, self-harming behaviors, strained relationships, LGBTQIA+ support, and a variety of other issues and complications.
She prides herself on her ability to translate her clinical knowledge into understandable and relatable terms. She creates a therapeutic, yet conversational, environment and aids each client in setting goals that are simple, attainable, and effective. She has been known to connect quickly with those resistant to treatment, especially teenagers. She enjoys providing insight into the benefits of therapy to those who are skeptical or hesitant to try. Each of her dedicated clients has made excellent progress in their strides to happier and healthier lives.
She provides a unique treatment setting and utilizes evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques in her practice. She will begin EMDR certification in 2020.
